A moment

The rain stopped.
It had been a warm summer day and the air cooled down under the cold rain droplets. Sunset golden glow is seeping through the old buildings flanking the narrow alley and flooding the wet cobble stone street.
Her senses are completely engulfed in the petrichor smell. She slowly opens her eyes and smiles as his silhouette comes out of the shadows. He pauses his pace in the middle of the street and the echo of this footsteps is carried away by the warm breeze.
For a moment, they look at eachother in complete silence. Her long dark hair covers her shoulders and it flows down her arms. Everything is motionless, except her vapory green dress, rippling through the air.
He smiles back at her, even if she can’t distinguish his features against the alley filled in light. His body relaxes into a firm pose. Tones of linden flood the air as a stronger breeze carries a few flowers into the alley.
All of the sudden, she sprints out towards him, her heels cutting like whips through the rain puddles. His muscles tense, preparing for her. She leaps into his arms and arches her body upwards. He grabs her small waist and, in a split of a second, gathers all his strength and plunges her into the air as high as he can.
For a moment, the old street, shining in the sunset, seemed to freeze, her body motionless in mid air. His face is now lit and he follows her with his deep blue eyes, mesmerized as her white wings grow and expand. With one flap, she raises into the clear sky, while he remains firm, in the dusk old alley.
