Triskele

This artwork is a tribute to the galus, a celtic people who, by the 4th century BC, spread over much of what is now France, Switzerland, Southern Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. By virtue of controlling the trade routes along the river systems of the Rhône, Seine, Rhine, and Danube, they quickly expanded into Northern Italy, the Balkans, Transylvania and Anatolia.

One of the most significant remnant of their culture is the Celtic helmet decorated with gold "triskeles", found in Amfreville-sous-les-Monts, France and dating back to 400 BC. The triskele ornaments on this helm have been my source of inspiration.

Unfortunately, I failed. Simple as that. Most people do not say anything when they personally fail. This is why I write about it.

Why? Because I want to show it is ok to fail. Failing means you tried and gained some experience for the next time you try or understand why quitting is the best solution for something. Failing, quitting ... these are some hard words people avoid being associated with now days.

Why? Today's society puts a lot of pressure on individuals to succeed, to compete, to excel. None looks at failures anymore, and when they do, it is usually over media accompanied by some hard criticism.

Why? Might as well tell you now that you are going to fail at some projects. Embrace the idea and enjoy what you do!

So what happened? Well, the triskele broke while I was sanding it. I was warned it could brake but I gave it a try nevertheless.
